Shelter Launches Committee for Las Vegas Kitten Season

With the onset of kitten season, The Animal Foundation has established a new committee to encourage people to foster felines. The Las Vegas shelter launched a new program called the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. So, one can walk in without an appointment, receive some quick training, and bring home a litter of kittens.

The Animal Foundation introduces Itty Bitty Kitty Committee to tackle kitten season

The Animal Foundation seeks help from community members as the shelter is overwhelmed with the number of kittens they have received over the month. Per KSNV, the animal shelter received over 300 little ones in April. Since the kitten season lasts from March to October, they expect community members to turn in thousands of kittens over the next few months.

While caring for kittens is one of the best things, it can get overwhelming during the kitten season due to the sheer number of felines being brought in. Overcapacity shelters can’t provide the meticulous care needed to help orphaned kittens, thus defeating the purpose.

One of the biggest issues The Animal Foundation faces is their nursery getting filled to its capacity. This is why the shelter has launched the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, which aims to simplify applying to foster felines. The program will make it a one-day process for prospective foster parents. Not only can one walk in without an appointment, but they can also receive training and take home the kittens.

There is additional training available, but to ease the pressure on the shelter, they have decided to provide it online. Thanks to this program, foster parents can enjoy the joys of fostering and train themselves to be better pet parents. The walk-in window is open for three hours daily, and one can go home with a litter of little ones old enough to be adopted.
