Cats love boxes. It's a well known fact. But no cat would enjoy spending eight days traveling 260 miles trapped in a box. That's what happened to a Siamese Cat named Cupcake in West Sussex. Cupcake's owner was shipping several DVDs in a package, but she didn't notice that her cat did what cats do and decided to make the box a comfy place to sit. In fact, she still didn't notice when she taped the cat inside the box and sent it out.
Eight days later, the package arrived. The person who received it was pretty shocked when he got his DVDs with an unexpected cat included. He called the RSPCA who brought the feline to Grove Lodge Veterinary Group, where they scanned for a microchip. Luckily, Cupcake's chip was in place and they contacted the owner immediately. Her owner had been searching and putting up flyers in the area, never realizing that she had mailed her cat.
The poor kitty was severely dehydrated and needed intensive care to recover, but she's doing fine. She's lucky to have had the microchip in place, as it wouldn't have been easy to find the owner 260 miles away. Next time you decide to mail something in a box, make sure your kitty hasn't made herself comfortable inside of it.
